dreaming in the high desert

DESOLATE AND MAGNIFICENT

  • Five days.

Five days in the high desert. Not nearly long enough to sink into the expansiveness, bathe beneath the neverending stars, twist in the wind like a tumbleweed or shed old skins like a diamondback.

It’s an isolationist territory, barren and massive, a place for loners yet full of life and artists. There are no skyscrapers and people hurrying about to make the buck, Yet, to take in all of its healing powers and mysticism and still have things on the “to do” list is, to quote U2 from the eponymous album, like “running to stand still”.

My teeth have only bitten into the flesh, the bone escapes.

Just a brief interlude at The Copper Room before we say goodbye.
